Big Girl, Big Girl, Big Girl

Matt walks around telling Hannah Cate that she's a "big girl, big girl, big girl". Spend about an hour with us and I guarantee that you will hear him say it. She's heard it enough that she thought she better start living up to it. Here's a few new things our big girl is doing.....

Reading!

The girl loves a good book.

Now her definition and mine of a good book are pretty different at this point! She's actually more interested in turning the pages and eating the corners than the actual story. As a result, I've become quite the speed reader.

Eating Solids!

Finally!

Overnight she decided that maybe eating wasn't so bad and actually tasted pretty good. We had been working on it for about two and a half months. One day she refused and the next day she was all about it. Now she's eating rice cereal, pears, applesauce, bananas, prunes, sweet potatoes and squash.

This is her hurry up face, usually accompanied with waving arms.

Yum, Yum!

Not so keen on any green veggies yet, they usually make her gag.

And sometimes, eating just plain wears her out!

Playing!
She's become very interested in all of her toys and even things that are not her toys! It still amazes me when she reaches out and just picks up what she wants. I don't think I was prepared for how she would change right before our very eyes!
The remote control is one of her favorites. Her eyes absolutely light up when she sees it!

Waving and/or Come Here!
This is probably my favorite thing that she has done, to date. With her hand/palm facing towards herself, she extends her arm and proceeds to "wave" when she sees someone or something she wants. I call it a wave, but it's really like she's saying "come here to me". She started doing it when she saw her bottle coming and sometimes when she was eating. Then she would do it when she saw one of her people (me, Matt, Nini, etc). Even if we were standing right next to her and had been for five minutes, she would start her waving until she could touch our face. And finally, this morning at church, she did her wave to any and everyone she saw. She was right on cue, as if she was really waving just to say hello. Such a big girl!

This is the best picture I have of her waving so far. She was eating and waving to Mimi in this picture on Christmas Eve.

What a good eater! I think she's caught up to Isabella now! She just had to be ready to do it on her own schedule. She's an independent girl!
